Álvaro Arbeloa has been offered a youth coaching position at Real Madrid starting next season.
The 37-year-old, who won a LaLiga title and two Champions Leagues during his time with Los Blancos, has already been involved with the club’s academy as he worked towards his Spanish FA PRO licence.
With that course now completed, Real want to bring the former Spain international on board in an official capacity.
According to Marca (via Football Espana), it is not yet known which of Real’s youth teams he will take charge of.
Arbeloa finished his own youth career with Real, featuring for their C and B teams (and briefly with the first team) before being sold to Deportivo de La Coruña in 2006.
He spent just six months with Deportivo before being snapped up by Liverpool during Rafa Benitez’s reign at Anfield.
Arbeloa established himself as the regular right-back with the Merseysiders, and his performances were good enough for Real to entice him back to the Bernabeu in a £5m deal in the summer of 2009.
He was lucky to be involved with the Spanish national side during their golden era at the turn of the last decade.
The defender racked up 56 caps with La Roja, winning the 2008 and 2012 European Championships and the 2010 World Cup along the way.
