Atlético de Madrid saw off Valencia with a 3-0 win at the Mestalla.

Julian Álvarez hit his 18th goal of the season after a Antoine Griezmann began a move inside the penalty area with a beautifully chipped ball over the top. After a stinging Samuel Lino attempt was thwarted, the Argentinian star responded with a top class finish, lifting his shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

And it was the Argentinian forward that struck again to double the advantage for Atleti, this time with a header from close range.

The three points were secured with four minutes of normal time remaining, as Conor Gallagher intercepted the ball on halfway, making a long unchallenged run to slip in Ángel Correa, who rolled the ball past Mamardashvili in style.

That result put Diego Simeone's men two points clear at the top of LaLiga, with Barcelona and Real Madrid still to play this weekend.
