Being one of the most exciting young footballers in the world isnât enough for Bayern Munich starlet Alphonso Davies apparently.
The Canadian has shown a flair for the performing arts with some of his brilliant TikTok videos, and he has now admitted he would like to move into show business when he eventually hangs up his boots.
âFootball comes first, but I want to be an actor eventually. I like entertaining people and TikTok gives me the platform to do so,â Davies told Gary Lineker in a Zoom interview.
âIt allows fans to not only see what I do on the field, but also to get to know my personality a bit more. And it passes the time during the corona crisis when we are all staying home.â
The 19-year-old joined Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018 and he also spoken about how excited he was when he heard the Bundesliga giants were chasing him.
âThere were rumours in the air that all these different clubs were looking at me but I didnât know which specific clubs. No one told me anything. And then I got a message: âBayern Munich want to meet you.â
âI was like: âOh my god. Really?â It was both exciting and scary. I just had to prove to myself that I could compete at this level.â
Asked whether he felt intimidated when meeting Bayernâs superstars upon his arrival in Germany, Davies replied: âYes! Iâd watched these guys on TV since I was a kid and there I was, seeing them in person, training with them and playing with them.
âI was very intimidated. When Arjen Robben introduced himself to me, I just couldnât believe it.â
Davies has had a magnificent season this year but like all footballers, he has had to spend the last few weeks in isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
âThe team started training a couple of weeks ago so Iâm happy for that,â he added.
âBut itâs a tough situation right now, so I guess we just have to play our part and stay inside.â
