Doyle told the Liverpool Echo: “Unless one of Liverpool’s main players agitates to leave and a huge offer comes in for them, Liverpool as it stands are almost certain not to sign any marquee players such as Mbappe, Haaland and, given what Dortmund want for him, Sancho.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Doyle’s update regarding Liverpool’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window is slightly heartbreaking. We would have loved to have seen the club sign a big name.

The Reds have been linked with Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland. The 20-year-old has scored 37 goals in 38 appearances this season.

Haaland is young and scores goals. Any club in the world would want to own a player like Haaland.

But, it has recently been reported that the pandemic has impacted the club financially. Therefore, we are not shocked to hear that the club won’t be signing a marquee player this summer.

The reality is, marquee players cost a lot of money. However, the pandemic has impacted a lot of clubs financially.

Therefore, Liverpool won’t be the only club not signing a marquee player this summer.

We don’t want to see any of Liverpool’s key players depart to fund signings. They have been integral to Liverpool’s recent success.

There has been no news suggesting that any of Liverpool’s key players will depart Anfield this summer.
