Barcelona youngster Jan Virgili is attracting serious attention this summer, with Almeria leading the race to sign the promising winger, claims a report from SPORT.
While the 19-year-old continues training with Barça Atletic under Juliano Belletti, it is becoming increasingly clear that a move away from the club is on the cards.
Virgili is open to leaving, especially with several clubs from higher divisions expressing strong interest.
As reported before, one of those clubs is Mallorca. However, talks with them have stalled. Barcelona are demanding a fee of €4 million for 50% of Virgili’s rights, along with a buyback clause and a 50% sell-on option.
Mallorca, on the other hand, are only willing to offer €2 million, creating a gap that neither side is currently willing to bridge.

Barça also feel that Mallorca may not offer the young winger the regular minutes he needs to continue his development, despite manager Jagoba Arrasate being keen on the move.
Unlike Mallorca, Almeria have made a clearer and more aggressive approach. According to reports, they recently communicated their strong interest directly to Virgili and his representatives.
In fact, their manager, Rubi, has personally spoken to the player. Almeria have reportedly offered €3 million for 50% of the player’s rights and a six-year contract, conditions much closer to what Barcelona are looking for.
Barcelona remain firm in their stance that they will only agree to a deal that allows them to keep half of the player’s rights and includes a buyback option. A loan move is currently off the table.
With Almeria showing serious intent and willing to meet most of Barcelona’s conditions, the ball is now in Virgili’s court.
A move seems likely, but Barça are making sure they stay connected to a player they believe can shine in the future.
