Almería took on Granada in La Liga’s bottom-of-the-table clash on Sunday afternoon. The home side went 3-0 up thanks to a hat-trick from Colombian striker Luis Suárez in just five minutes and 23 seconds.

Granada fought their way back into the game after conceding three times against the side sitting bottom of the league. Despite Antonio Puertas’ missed penalty against his former side, Paco López’s men still managed to come away with a point after scoring three times in a frenetic second half in the Andalusian sun.

3 things from the thrilling battle between Almería and Granada

1. Luis Suárez scored the fastest hat-trick (in 5 minutes and 23 seconds) by a player against a former team in La Liga history. He surpassed the record of Diego Tristán, who scored three goals in 12 minutes and 43 seconds against Mallorca as a Deportivo player on 6 April 2002.

2. Granada got a result away from home after being three goals down at halftime. There are only four teams who have achieved the feat in La Liga history, the most recent dating back to 10 December 1967 (Espanyol 4-5 Valencia, 4-1 at half-time).

3. Luis Suárez is the second player in La Liga history to score a hat-trick in less than 10 minutes and NOT win the match. The first was Pepillo (with Sevilla), also against Granada, in 1943. His side lost 4-3 at Los Cármenes after scoring three goals in seven minutes (with a break in between).
