Roma have decided to postpone a likely coaching change to next week. Director Florent Ghisolfi told the team that Ivan Juric would stay at the helm for the next two matches and that his faith would hinge on the results, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

In the meantime, their search continues. Despite the chatter, Claudio Ranieri and Daniele De Rossi haven’t been contacted directly. Roberto Mancini is an option, but he has reservations not entirely related to the situation. Frank Lampard is emerging as a strong candidate, but he’d demand a long-term contract.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the former Italy and Saudi Arabia manager is open to taking over. However, he’d rather wait until January for fiscal reasons. Roma might not have that much time, as their season might be completely down the drain at that point.

Per Il Messaggero, the algorithm-based company consulted by the Giallorossi suggested Paulo Sousa and Lampard. The former is under contract with Shabab Al-Ahli. The capital club would need to pay his release clause to get him, which would be unusual for a Serie A team. The latter has coached Derby County, Chelsea, and Everton with not-so-great results.

Massimiliano Allegri has been timidly attached to Roma as well, but his friend and mentor Giovanni Galeone brushed off the rumors to Radio Kiss Kiss (via OneFootball).

“He goes there only to follow his horses. They aren’t even a team in his mind. I’ve heard from him last week, and he didn’t sound too eager to return on the bench.”

Our Take on Roma

Hiring a foreign coach with no Serie A experience and a less-than-stellar resume would make no sense whatsoever. He’d look like a fish out of water.
