Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has addressed the media ahead of his side’s trip to Salernitana on Tuesday.

This is what he had to say …

On squad update

“Is Mattia Perin ready to come in from the start? No. Mattia De Sciglio is not quite ready yet but we could see him against Genoa.

“Weston McKennie’s injury doesn’t appear too serious but we won’t see Federico Chiesa again until after Christmas.

“Rodrigo Bentancur is better. He had to recover after a very intense period but he is calmer and fresher now.”

On Álvaro Morata criticism

“I want to be clear on something. On Saturday, Morata played one of his best games of the season.

“I thought he was among the best players on the field and I feel sorry because people should be objective when giving judgements.

“So either [you] don’t understand or it is a case of prejudice against him.

“I don’t do your job but I’d like to understand on what basis you make evaluations. I don’t like it. With Morata, there is a persistence to it and it isn’t good.”

On considering possibility of no CL football

“There are no transition years at Juventus. We are seventh but this is Juventus and we need ambition and desire to get the most out of this.

“We are into the last 16 of the Champions League, the Coppa Italia is still to be played and there are still a lot more games left in the league.”

On finding a way out of difficulty

“I’ve always done what I believe is necessary. At this moment, we need order, certainty and calmness. I don’t know if we can finish first.

“But we must be ready for the games to come and find a way to get out of this storm that isn’t always about fighting.”
