Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri struggled to fight back the tears after hearing a message from ex-Bianconeri star Mario Mandzukic: ‘It was wonderful because he was funny.’
Allegri reached Marcello Lippi for the number of appearances on the Juventus bench on Monday against Udinese, meaning that he will become the second longest-serving Bianconeri coach after Giovanni Trapattoni tomorrow, in an away game against Hellas Verona.
In a video shared by Juventus on YouTube on Friday, some of the players with the highest number of appearances under Allegri in Turin sent a message to the coach and the last one, Mario Mandzukic, moved Allegri to tears.
“You’ve put me on the spot here,” said Allegri with raspy voice.
“Because I have this bond with Mario. It was wonderful because he was funny. He pretended not to speak Italian, but he did, better than the others.”
