The mind games have begun ahead of tomorrow night’s big game between Juventus and AC Milan at the Allianz Stadium.

Few games in Italy garner as much attention as the Northwestern derby between the two biggest sides in Italy. As the oldest matchup in Italian domestic league history, beginning in 1901, it is the most played derby in the country – ahead of Derby della Madonnina, Derby d’Italia, Derby della Capitale and Derby della Mole.

As Juventus welcome Milan at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Bianconeri coach Allegri has shed light on what he thinks of the blockbuster encounter. Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference (via MilanNews), Allegri remarked that he feels the clash is more important for Milan than for his side.

He said: “It is one of the most important if not the most important match in the league. They have been playing together for years and have acquired important certainties, we are growing and therefore gives us hope for tomorrow’s match which I think is more important for them than for us.”

When quizzed why he believes so, Allegri commented: “You have to find out, it is more important to them than to us.”

Speaking of the clash itself, Allegri said: “We only have one point in the standings, so we need to have a good technical match. Knowing that Milan are very confident and after seven years outside the Champions League, they’re back. It shows that they have personality and it requires patience.”

Finally, Allegri spoke on Milan veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who he had the pleasure of coaching during his stint with the Rossoneri.

“I was lucky enough to coach him and he is still a very important player,” he said.

Juventus enter the clash sitting 16th in the Serie A table, way below the Rossoneri who have made the perfect start to the season and sit in second place, just behind Jose Mourinho’s rejuvenated Roma side.
