Allardyce vows West Brom will 'keep fighting' after stunning Southampton victory | OneFootball

West Bromwich Albion have kept alive their slim chances of Premier League survival with a 3-0 win over Southampton on Monday.

The Baggies entered the game under increased pressure to win after Newcastle United claimed a 2-1 win over Burnley.

Sam Allardyce's were controversially denied an opening goal from Mbaye Diagne after VAR could not overturn an offside decision, even though it was clear Kyle Bartley was offside and not his teammate.

A penalty from Matheus Pereira, who was fouled by goalkeeper Fraser Forster, gave Albion the lead after 32 minutes.

Matt Phillips doubled the advantage shortly after with a simple finish thanks to a superb cross from Mbaye Diang.

Callum Robinson made it 3-0 after 69 minutes when he connected on Okay Yokuslu's pass before finishing smartly past Forster.

Sam Johnstone topped off a quality performance by saving James Ward-Prowse's injury-time penalty.

West Brom are still eight points from safety with seven games remaining, but Allardyce says they will keep fighting.

"It is one of many top quality performances over the past eight or 10 games but we haven't received the credit because we didn't win," Allardyce said. "We have missed out on many points due to our poor finishing.

"We have had two very important wins but unfortunately we have to rely on other people losing.

"But we are still fighting."
