Everton will entertain Liverpool at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon hoping to pick up maximum points and continue their 100% winning start to this Premier League campaign. The Toffees earned a comfortable 4-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion before the international break which will give them a lot of confidence heading into this weekend’s highly anticipated Merseyside derby.

Carlo Ancelotti will probably set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation with both Allan and Andre Gomes expected to return to his starting XI for the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s men. However, it won’t be an easy game for the home side as they will come up against a wounded Liverpool team that got hammered 7-2 away at Aston Villa earlier this month.

Defence

Jordan Pickford will lineup in goal for the Toffees despite conceding seven goals in his first four starts of this season. The defensive duo will have to find a way to neutralise the threat of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah during the 90 minutes.

Ancelotti will be sweating on the fitness of both his first-choice full-backs as Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne are significant concerns ahead of this weekend’s derby. If they can pass a late fitness test, then Coleman will start at right-back while Digne looks to produce another productive showing as the left-back.

Midfield

The Toffees would welcome back both Andre Gomes and Allan as they operate in midfield along with Abdoulaye Doucoure while trying to dominate the battle at the centre of the park.
