Noel Whelan has claims David Moyes has “made up his mind” on Felipe Anderson as the West Ham winger attempts to manufacture his exit from the club.

The former Leeds United striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, said that the 27-year-old “has all the talent in the world” but is let down by his inability to track back and defend.

Anderson, who only scored once in 27 appearances last season, has two years left on his contract at the London Stadium.

The Hammers paid a then club record £36million fee for Anderson to Lazio two years ago and want to recoup much of that fee as he is seen as in the prime of his career.

When asked by Football Insider if the Anderson’s exit was best for all parties, Whelan said: “David Moyes has made his mind up now.

“He needs a different kind of character for West Ham. He has all of the talent in the world but you have got to be able to do both sides of the game. You have got to do the attacking side as well as the ugly side as well – defending, tracking back. That is what your teammates appreciate so much.

“He is a player that is sometimes only in a game for 20 minutes. They need all hands on deck.

“Moyes has had enough time to figure out which characters will fight for the club and the ones that aren’t will be shipped out very quickly. Anderson is one of those. A luxury player.”
