But there might be more than just another piece of silverware in store for PSG this season.
Thomas Tuchel’s men are on course to make a number of pieces for French football history, and here are all the records they could go on to break between now and the end of the campaign …
Most wins in a season
PSG could break the record jointly held by themselves (2015/16) and Monaco (2016/17) if they manage more than 30 league victories this year.
Most home wins in a season
PSG have won all six of their home games so far this term. The record – held by Saint-Étienne since 1974–75 – is 19.
Most away wins in a season
They’ve also won all five of their games on the road this term, and are on course to break their own record of 15 set in 2015/16.
Most consecutive wins
Monaco currently hold the record for most consecutive Ligue 1 victories with the 16 they notched up between 2016 and 2017. Les Parisiens therefore need five more to match that.
Before then, however, they could break Monaco’s record for most consecutive victories in a single Ligue 1 season (12) should they beat Lille and then Monaco in their next two games.
The record for most consecutive home victories is 28 for Saint-Étienne (between March 13, 1974 and August 27, 1975) and the record for most consecutive away victories is 9 for Marseille (between February 15, 2009 and August 8, 2009).
Nantes hold the record for fewest defeats in a single season when they lost just once in the entirety of 1994/95. No team has even gone unbeaten for an entire Ligue 1 campaign.
However, 53 teams have previously managed to go an entire season without losing at home.
But while four teams have previously managed just one away defeat in a whole season, no team has ever gone an entire season unbeaten away from home.
RC Paris currently hold the record for most goals scored in a 20-team Ligue 1 season with 118 they managed in 1959/60. PSG are on course to score 134 this season.
PSG hold the record for fewest goals conceded in a season with 19. They’ve conceded six times so far this season, meaning their projected total is 20.
They’ve conceded twice at home already this season, however, meaning they’re unlikely to beat the insane record set by Saint-Étienne in 2007/08, when they conceded just four times at home all season!
PSG probably won’t break their own away record from 2015/16 either, when they shipped just seven goals on the road. They’ve conceded four already this season.
Still, not bad for a club which is only 48-years-old, eh?
