Arturo Vidal turned back the clock with a sensational brace as Chile cruised to a 2-0 victory over Peru in Matchday 3 of Conmebol World Cup qualifiers on Friday night.
Though the match was a back-and-forth stalemate early on in the first half, Vidal broke the match open with perhaps the best goal of his career, smashing an effort from outside the box that left goalkeeper Pedro Gallese rooted to his spot.
Vidal would virtually put the match to bed with his second goal of the night in the 35th minute as Chile earned a very deserved three points.
Substitute Alexis Sánchez nearly added a third late on as Peru looked helpless in their efforts to find a goal late on.
With the victory, Chile are back on four points following a 2-1 defeat against Uruguay and a 2-2 draw with Colombia.
Peru, meanwhile, are only on one point and will look to rebound against Argentina on Tuesday while Chile will play away to Venezuela.
