Arthur and Richarlison each scored toward the end of the first half though Uruguay would rattle the crossbar twice in the first half.
The game looked as if it was put to bed after Edinson Cavani picked up his second yellow card of the night but Uruguay would quickly respond with a goal from a corner – only for it to be ruled offside.
With the victory, Brazil continue their perfect start, already having accumulated an impressive +10 goal difference in the process.
Uruguay, meanwhile, are only on six points through four games, temporarily in fifth place. Conmebol qualifiers will resume play in March 2021.
