Club América have taken a giant step toward securing the top seed in the Liguilla as they defeated Santos Laguna 2-1 in thrilling fashion on Tuesday night.
Álvaro Fidalgo and Sebastián Córdova scored the goals for América, with Córdova’s 87th-minute strike being the decider.

Though Fernando Gorriarán’s 73rd-minute equaliser from the spot gave the visitors life, Diego Valdés was sent off three minutes later to give the Eagles a huge advantage.
That, of course, left the door open for Córdova to strike late with a brilliant header following a sensational cross from Miguel Layún.
