The revised hand ball rules are causing consternation, as Tottenham became the latest side to suffer because of the ridiculous new laws.

We think there was a little bit of all us storming down the tunnel with José Mourinho!

Oh, and lest we forget, Leicester hammered Manchester City at the Etihad. Interesting times.

Five-star Leicester humble Manchester City

You really couldn’t have predicted this outcome, and a 5-2 scoreline was even more inconceivable after Riyad Mahrez’s cracking strike put the hosts ahead in the fourth minute.

But Leicester brushed off that setback and, with the help of a Jamie Vardy hat-trick and a sublime effort from James Maddison, the Foxes catapulted themselves to the top of the table.

Three of the visitors’ goals came from the penalty spot, and Pep Guardiola could not and did not complain about the decisions.

City are a shambles defensively. That needs to be sorted ASAP, or they have no chance of winning back the title.

Newcastle steal point from incredulous Tottenham

It’s gone beyond a joke now, hasn’t it?

Rarely can you find near universal agreement among fans of different clubs, but it’s hard to find any support for how the new hand ball rules are impacting the game.

Even Newcastle manager Steve Bruce, whose side benefitted from the decision to penalise Eric Dier that gave Callum Wilson the chance to make it 1-1 from the spot at the death, could scarcely believe what he’d seen.

You probably won’t either.

Bubbles blowing as West Ham crush Wolves

Manager David Moyes wasn’t even present as West Ham registered their first league win of the season.

In isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, the Scot would have been delighted with what he saw from afar.

A Jarrod Bowen brace put the Hammers in control at London Stadium, with a Raúl Jiménez own goal and Sébastien Haller header combining to rub salt into the wound for woeful Wolves.

Bamford proves his worth as Leeds overcome Blades

It was almost taken as a given that Leeds would have to invest heavily to get a goalscorer capable of helping them compete at Premier League level.

Striker Patrick Bamford was written off before the season had even started, but three goals in as many league games will have many observers revising their opinion of the 27-year-old.

His downward header two minutes from time gave Marcelo Bielsa’s men victory in this Yorkshire derby.

If anything, with just one league goal so far, it’s Sheffield United who need to get their cheque book out.
