All square between Brentford and Chelsea

Neither Brentford nor Chelsea were able to break the deadlock at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The visitors were hoping to take advantage of Nottingham Forest's defeat to Aston Villa to close in on third place. Despite that, Enzo Maresca elected to have Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson on the bench.

It was the home team who should have taken the lead when Mikkel Damsgaard was played through on goal but fluffed his lines when he should have been burying his effort.

The Bees were looking good in the first half but Chelsea improved in the second, helped by the introduction of some of those players rested after their midweek clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, Nicolas Jackson was introduced after the break and probably should have put his team in the lead after being set up by Enzo Fernández.

In the end, a draw was probably a fair result. Brentford remain in 12th place while Chelsea are still in fourth for now but could drop to fifth should Manchester City win the Manchester derby in the late kick-off.
