Mohamed Salah came back to haunt Chelsea on Saturday as he helped his current team, Liverpool, to a 1-1 draw against the Blues at Anfield.

Salah’s goal in the 65th minute — his Premier League-leading 10th of the season — made him the 20th former Chelsea player to score against their ex-employer in the Premier League.

Chelsea have developed an extensive scouting system in recent years, buying up young global talent. However, the case can be made that they don’t do enough to help integrate their youngsters into the first team.

Players like Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Daniel Sturridge have gone on to achieve success at rival clubs after failing to make the grade at Stamford Bridge.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) Ryan Bertrand (Southampton) Oriol Romeu (Southampton) Fabio Borini (Sunderland) Frank Lampard (Manchester City) Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool) Shaun Wright-Phillips (Queens Park Rangers) Samuel Eto’o (Everton) Carlton Cole (West Ham United) William Gallas (Arsenal) Scott Sinclair (Swansea) Glen Johnson (Liverpool) Scott Parker (West Ham United) Boudwejin Zenden (Sunderland) Mikael Forssell (Birmingham) Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Charlton) Andy Townsend (Aston Villa) Neil Shipperley (Southampton) Graeme Le Saux (Blackburn)

Many of the players on the list were either past their primes when they scored against Chelsea or failed to ever hit their potential but the two most recent names (De Bruyne and Salah) may come leave a bitter taste in the mouths of Chelsea fans for years to come.
