The Canadian international has embraced Scotland since joining from Montreal CF in January 2023, following standout performances at the World Cup in Qatar.
The 26 year-old has already secured six major trophies with the Hoops and played a vital role in Brendan Rodgers’ squad as they pursue a second domestic Treble in three seasons.

During a Q&A session on Celtic’s Instagram stories, when asked about his favourite catchphrase he has learned since moving to Glasgow, Johnston responded: “You are going to have to beep this out but it’s ‘get tae France, I love that one, it’s so good. Greg Taylor says that one all the time. I remember in my first months when I came in we actually did some Scottish slang. I’m not sure that was one of them but yeah ‘get tae”‘ is easily my favourite.”
The right-back also shared that he is passionate about all types of sports and confessed that relocating to Scotland has prevented him from staying up late to watch ice hockey and American football from his home country. Replying to another question, he said: Being Canadian I grew up playing ice hockey and loved it, I still love watching it.”

“In terms of watching sports, I watch so many different things. It’s probably best that I am in Europe now and the time zone means that I can’t watch as many sports from back home. My fiancé would say it would because otherwise I would stay up all-day watching American football, ice hockey and basketball.”
Johnston added: “But right now I would probably say my [other]favourite sport to watch, and play is probably tennis. I have always really enjoyed tennis and now my fiancé is a very good tennis player so on our off-days we are members at a little club near our place so we will go over there and let her take some steam out on me and kick my butt!”
