Shelbourne Football Club is pleased to announce our first signing of the summer, with Ali Coote joining from Detroit City, subject to international clearance.

He will arrive at Tolka Park when the transfer window opens on July 1st 2024. An attack minded left sided midfielder, Coote has made nine appearances for the USL Championship side this season, the tier below MLS. Starting eight of those games.

The Scottish native will bring a mix of League of Ireland and European experience to Damien Duff’s side. He played a key role in Bohs 2021 European run, playing six times as they defeated ​​Stjarnan and F91 Dudelange in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Coote scored twice against PAOK Thessaloniki in the third qualifying round, finishing the 2021 season with 42 appearances and seven goals.

In the 2022 season, Coote made 32 appearances and the following season played 30 times in the League of Ireland, scoring six goals.

Coote has made 109 appearances in total during his time in the League of Ireland with Bohs and Waterford FC, scoring 15 goals and registering 18 assists.

He’s also played 11 times in the FAI Cup, helping Bohs to reach finals in 2021 and 2023.

Coote’s career began at Dundee United’s academy, where he signed his first professional contract in June 2014.

He made his senior debut for Dundee United the following year against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. From Scotland, Coote joined Waterford FC before moving to Dalymount where he spent three seasons.

Internationally, Coote has represented Scotland at the U15, U16, and U17 levels, winning 18 caps between 2012 and 2015.
