A look at some of the players Blackburn Rovers should be targeting this summer

It has so far been a rather quiet start to the summer transfer window for Blackburn Rovers.

As things stand, the Lancashire outfit are yet to make a first-team signing, in what is their first transfer market since the appointment of John Eustace as head coach back in February.

However, that is going to need to change, after the Lancashire outfit only avoided relegation from the Championship on the final day of last season.

There will be an emphasis around the club this summer, on signing players who can help Blackburn to climb back up the second-tier table in the coming campaign.

So, with that in mind, we've taken a look at four potentially smart signings the club should be aiming to complete before the window closes on the 30th August, right here.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

With Ryan Hedges and Arnor Sigurdsson hampered by injury last season, Tyrhys Dolan facing an uncertain future as his contract runs down, and Dilan Markanday yet to establish himself, another winger may well be needed at Ewood Park.

That could come in the form of Crystal Palace's Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who excelled on loan in League One with Charlton during the 2022/23 campaign, before struggling for game time at Selhurst Park last season.

It has been reported that both Blackburn and Luton are keen on the 21-year-old, who could thrive in the Championship, so it could be a coup for the Lancashire club to get this deal done.

But having negotiated an already hugely successful big money move for Adam Wharton to Palace last summer, Rovers should surely be drawing on those connections to win this transfer battle in the coming weeks.

Ali Al-Hamadi

Blackburn have had some unsuccessful centre-forward signings in recent times, which have made things hard for them on the pitch, with a reliance on Sammie Szmodics to keep them up last season.

A new striker therefore is a clear priority at Ewood Park this summer, and Ipswich Town's Ali Al-Hamadi could be worth considering for that role.

The 22-year-old impressed for the Tractor Boys after a move from League Two side AFC Wimbledon in the second-half of last season, showing he can make an impact in the Championship.

Following promotion though, Ipswich may want to add more firepower to their attack, and that appears to be the case with a pursuit of Greek hot-shot Fotis Ioannidis, which could put a temporary move for Al-Hamadi on the agenda.

Given the Tractor Boys have been linked with Blackburn's Sam Gallagher again this summer, there may be an argument that there could be some scope for something of a swap deal involving those two players before the window closes, or at the very least a season-long loan.

Paddy McNair

With Scott Wharton already looking set to miss most if not all of next season with a serious knee injury, there is undoubtedly a need for at least one more centre-back to be added to the squad at Ewood Park this summer.

That would help ensure that Eustace has the depth available to switch from a back four to a back three, as he often likes to do in game. The signing of Paddy McNair would therefore be a useful one to help Blackburn to do that.

The Northern Ireland international is a proven operator at this level, and would bring with him some much-needed experience to what is still a relatively young Rovers squad.

He is of course, also available on a free transfer, having left Middlesbrough earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract, meaning this deal could be a profitable and risk-free one from a financial perspective for Blackburn as well.

Bartosz Bialkowski

Both of Rovers' senior goalkeepers, Aynsley Pears and Leo Wahlstedt, made some costly errors last season, and the latter is already being linked with a move back to Denmark after just one season at Ewood Park.

As a result, the club may well be keen to add another goalkeeper to their ranks in the summer transfer window, and John Ruddy has been linked, although Charlton have also been credited with an interest in the former England man.

If that means Blackburn miss out, then Bartosz Bialkowski could potentially a sensible alternative to fill that role.

Like Ruddy, the Pole has plenty of experience of the Championship, which could make him a leader on the pitch, as well as someone who can help their other goalkeeping options develop. He is also available on a free transfer this summer following his departure from Millwall, which could make this a sensible financial move for Blackburn to make as well.
