Alfreð Finnbogason joins a select group with yet another hat-trick

With all respect to Alfreð Finnbogason, but he’s probably no one’s idea of a brilliant goalscorer.

The Icelandic striker has had a pretty nomadic career going from Netherlands to Spain, via Greece and Belgium.

He’s at Augsburg now though and since 2016 seems to have matured into an effective, robust centre-forward.

The former Real Sociedad man seems to have found his home in the Bundesliga and was in the goals again on Sunday when he netted all three in his side’s comprehensive win over rivals Mainz.

It was his fourth Bundesliga hat-trick and took the 30-year-old into some exulted company.
