While out-of-contract at the end of the year and strongly linked to a move to Monterrey, it’s no time for Alexis Vega to be setting unwanted Liga MX records.
However, that’s what he’s done after picking up a red card in the 71st minute of Chivas’ 1-0 win over Cruz Azul, which sent the rojiblancos back into the play-off places.
After grabbing Nacho Rivero by the neck following a foul, it was the sixth time that Vega has been sent off over the last three years. This number exceeds any other player in Liga MX over that span.
Going into the match, Vega was level with Pumas right-back Alan Mozo.
This is the second time Vega has been sent off this season, reaching seven times for his career and further extending his reputation as one of the most undisciplined players in Mexico.
