It seems that Alexis Peña could still have a future at Chivas after all.
The Flock announced in November that the defender was one of four players who would leave the club due to off-field disciplinary issues.
Dieter Villalpando was “definitively separated” from the organisation, while Peña, Eduardo ‘Chofis López, and José Juan Vázquez were “suspended from the squad” and placed on the transfer list.
However, it has emerged that 24-year-old Peña been registered with Liga MX as a Los Rojiblancos player for the Guard1anes 2021 season that started this weekend.
Chivas opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw at Puebla on Friday, but the former Necaxa man was not named in the travelling squad.
When the decision to discipline the players was announced, director of football Ricardo Peláez insisted that “none of these players will play in Chivas again.”
Villalpando and Eduardo ‘Chofis López have yet to find a new club.
José Juan Vázquez, meanwhile, is on loan at Toluca.
