It wasn't the perfect night for the midfielder however, as he was forced off in the later stages of the game through injury, which sparked concerns amongst the Liverpool faithful.

Mac Allister has been confirmed to have an adductor injury. Argentina are going to train him on a differentiated basis until Tuesday in order to be ready for their match against Luis Diaz's Colombia, according to Gaston Edul.

There's good news and potential bad news in this for Liverpool. The good being his injury is evidently minor with there being a chance he could feature against Colombia next week, but it runs the risk of further injury if he is rushed back too soon.

Mac Allister had claimed he felt discomfort in training leading up to the Chile game, ultimately being a doubt for the game, but fears of a potential injury were eased when he posted photos on social media of himself looking sharp in Argentina's sessions.

ALEXIS A STAND-OUT AGAINST CHILE

Liverpool's number 10 continued his fine club form into his national team's World Cup qualifier against Chile as he showed his value when he latched onto a cross and fired home to give his country the lead.

The underlying stats also reinforced the dominance of Mac Allister in and out of possession last night.

The 25-year-old has been an instrumental part of Liverpool's team since his arrival last summer and any avoidance of injury wouldn't go amiss, as he and Ryan Gravenberch look to continue their impressive partnership in Arne Slot's system. The Reds welcome Nottingham Forest next weekend.
