The Argentine full-back just never got going at Celtic Park and in the cold light of day, his playing style just didn’t vibe with Scottish football or what we needed in a left-back.
Nevertheless, in what is almost a rarity in football, all parties struck it lucky and will be grateful at this transfer deal coming off without a hitch. Internacional has procured the services of a player who they have already seen on loan and know fits with the club, having earned rave reviews down in Brazil. Celtic have secured a wonderful profit on a man who was nowhere near the first team and Alexandro himself has found a new home where he is happy and enjoying his football again.

Upon his departure from Celtic Park, the diminutive defender has sent a lovely message to the Celtic supporters and the club more generally; thanking us all for making him feel welcome and giving him support during the highs and lows of life in Glasgow. Revealing that he was proud to be the very first Argentinian player that ever played for the famous green and white hoops, he said via Instagram:
“I am proud to have been the first Argentine to join this beautiful club. I want to thank the entire coaching staff and all the people at the club for the beautiful year and a half I spent at @celtic. Thanks to the Celtic fans for the support they have given me during my stay. It was a pleasure to be part of this great club and experience unforgettable moments at the Celtic Park stadium. I will always carry Celtic in my heart. thanks for everything.”
