Alexandre Lacazette coy on Lyon future

Alexandre Lacazette (32) has been the embodiment of Olympique Lyonnais’ revival. The Frenchman was out-of-form in the first half of the season with OL rock-bottom of Ligue 1. Fast forward five months and Lyon have secured their place in next season’s UEFA Europa League and only Kylian Mbappé (25) has netted more in France’s top flight. He will captain his formative club against Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de France final in Lille on Saturday, but could it be his last game for Lyon?

As reported by RMC Sport in April, Saudi Arabian sides are circling for Lacazette. By the end of this season, there will be just one year remaining on his deal with Les Gones. Naturally, there is uncertainty and Saudi Arabia are looking to profit from it. According to RMC Sport, two clubs have made concrete steps to sign Lacazette this summer. The player’s entourage has told RMC Sport that they possess one “un-refusable” off from a Saudi club. Lyon have been made aware of the situation and Lacazette, who did not expect such offers, will listen to the proposals.

Naturally, it is a topic that will be discussed after the Coupe de France final but Lacazette did not commit his future to Lyon when asked if he could do so. “It will be my final game of the season, but my final game for OL? I don’t know. It’s neither the time nor the place [to discuss it],” said Lacazette in a pre-match press conference, ahead of Lyon’s final against PSG.
