Lyon have announced their squad available to face Lens on Sunday evening via their official social media and there is one major absentee excluded from the squad – Alexandre Lacazette (32).

As reported by L’Équipe, the former Arsenal striker was expected to lead the line for Les Gones as they welcome Lens to the Groupama Stadium. However, after suffering a minor injury against Strasbourg in Lyon’s Coupe de France success midweek, he has been ruled unavailable, according to Fabrice Hawkins.

The OL captain returned to collective team training on Saturday but the match against Les Sang et Or arrives too early for the 32-year-old to be ready in time for the match on Sunday evening. This creates an opportunity for another of Lyon’s attacking options

Who will replace Lacazette?

With Lacazette unavailable, this creates a rare opportunity for another of Lyon’s attackers to start. Mama Baldé, Rayan Cherki, Malick Fofana and Gift Orban are all options for Pierre Sage. However, Orban (21) is the most natural striker of the quartet and has previously been preferred to Lacazette in the Coupe de France so looks likely to be given the nod with OL’s captain absent.
