"Of course it's very annoying," said Sydney Lohmann after the home game against Ajax in the UEFA Women's Champions League. Despite taking the lead early on, FC Bayern Women had to settle for a 1-1 draw after 90 intense minutes. "Our goal was three points, so the draw is obviously not enough for us," said coach Alexander Straus. But the Munich women led by goal scorer Lea Schüller immediately turned their attention to the future: "Now we just have to win the games in the second half of the season." fcbayern.com has rounded up more reaction for you.

Reaction to the game against Ajax

Alexander Straus: "Our goal was three points, so the draw is obviously not enough for us. We started the game well and scored early on. But afterwards, we played too deep in my opinion, which is why we didn't manage to create any pressing moments. We have to analyse why we let the game slip after 15 minutes. We addressed that during the break and adjusted a few things. The second half from us was really good, Ajax didn't have a chance and we had good opportunities but didn't capitalise on them. We have to work on that."

Sydney Lohmann: "Of course it's very annoying. We wanted to get three points, but we didn't manage it. Unfortunately, we didn't get things right in the important phases. We gave Ajax the ball too much and were too passive. In addition, we were too hectic at times in the final third and were too careless with the final pass and attempt. That's why the draw was ultimately okay."

Maria Luisa Grohs: "We weren't as competitive today as we had imagined and as we expect from ourselves. We fell short of our potential. Now we have to find solutions as to how we can do better in the coming week."

Lea Schüller: "We started well into the game but didn't capitalise on our chances consistently, and that continued throughout the match, which makes it difficult to win a game. Now we just have to win the games in the second half of the season and we'll still have our fate in our own hands."

Reaction from the Ajax camp

Suzanne Bakker (Ajax coach): "We're proud that we came back after conceding an early goal and picked up a point here. We didn't panic and we're pleased about that. We hope we won't fall behind so quickly in the reverse fixture and will be able to create more chances."

Chasity Grant (Ajax striker): "Bayern are a physically strong team. They're strong at transitioning, but they leave us a lot of space in front of the back line and we'll have to take advantage of that in the reverse fixture."
