RB Leipzig forward Alexander Sørloth (26) is a candidate to replace Anthony Modeste at FC Köln, according to Sky Germany.

The arrival of Timo Werner at RB Leipzig is likely to drop the Norwegian forward further down the pecking order behind the German, Christopher Nkunku, Andre Silva and Yussuf Poulsen. And so, the Saxon side are open to allowing Sørloth to leave the club.

However, despite receiving around €5m from Borussia Dortmund for Modeste (34), Köln would be unable to meet Leipzig’s valuation, and so a loan move would be more feasible.

Sørloth spent last season on loan at Spanish side Real Sociedad, where he scored eight and created one in 44 games across all competitions. Against Stuttgart last weekend, the Norwegian was used as a late substitution but was unable to influence the game, playing just five minutes.

Since joining Leipzig from Crystal Palace in 2020 for €20m, Sørloth has played 38 games across all competitions, scoring six and creating three. Head coach Steffen Baumgart and Managing Director Christian Keller would ideally like to sign a replacement before the September 1 deadline.
