Alexander Isak is making headlines.

The Newcastle United striker having scored 17 goals despite only starting 21 Premier League games this season, three goals short of Erling Haaland at the top of the scoring charts, the Man City striker having started 25 PL matches.

Alexander Isak in blistering form as the season comes towards its close, with seven goals in his last six Premier League appearances.

PL minutes per goal – Haaland 109 minutes and Isak 104 minutes

PL goals per 90 minutes – Haaland 0.82 and Isak 0.86

Shot accuracy – Haaland 58% and Isak 67%

Number of scoring chances – Haaland scoring 20 goals from 83 and Isak scoring 17 goals from 49

Goal conversion from chances as a percentage – Haaland 24% and Isak 35%

No surprise then that Alexander Isak is also making headlines when it comes to transfer speculation.

All across the media, they are running stories about how each and every top club are wanting / trying to sign him.

Overall, since arriving at Newcastle United, Alexander Isak has scored 27 goals from only 38 Premier League starts (plus some sub appearances), those goals arriving on average every 122 minutes. Easy to see why everybody would love to sign him.

When you add in the fact that he is still only 24 and with his best years ahead of him, Alexander Isak is indeed a stellar signing, if somebody could land him.

Taking all of the above into consideration, it then makes me laugh out loud when I see the media coverage. All of the transfer stories, each with their own ‘exclusive’, whatever claim they are going with, as to which club has allegedly contacted Newcastle United or indeed the player himself, where Isak allegedly wants to go and so on.

So what makes me laugh, in pretty much all of them, is when it gets to his supposed transfer fee is/when Alexander Isak leaves St James’ Park.

I have seen everything from £60m to £90m as the quoted transfer fee / valuation. Hmmm.

How does that work then?

Alexander Isak was signed as a 22 year old for £63m (£59m plus £4m future add-ons) in August 2022.

He has then proved to be an outstanding success for Newcastle United in both the Premier League and Champions League, plus domestic cup competitions.

Yet according to some of these clowns in the media, Isak’s value has actually gone DOWN after showing he is a world class striker.

If you take the middle level of those speculated valuations, at £75m it would be a £12m profit if Newcastle United sold him at that figure. Simply laughable.

Even the top end of £90m or so of what is speculated, for me it isn’t even getting close to the true Alexander Isak value.

When you add in the fact that he is contracted to Newcastle United until end of June 2028, more than four years and two months time, why on earth would anybody think they could pick up Alexander Isak for a bargain £90m in today’s market?

The top four transfer fees paid so far by Premier League clubs were £100m paid for Jack Grealish to Villa by Man City, Arsenal £105m to West Ham for Declan Rice, £107m by Chelsea for Enzo Fernandez to Benfica, then £115m paid to Brighton for Moises Caicedo by Chelsea.

I am not saying that these aren’t (were?) good players BUT why would anything think Alexander Isak could be bought for less than any of this quartet???

I would say Rice has been the best buy of those four BUT for me, Alexander Isak is worth more than the Arsenal midfielder, because he does the most difficult job of all as a goalscorer.

If Isak had been playing for Man City and had the chances which Haaland has had, just how many would he have scored?

When you add in the fact that Alexander Isak is far more than just a goalscorer, exactly what is his value if he was ever sold?

He excels playing on the left side as well and nobody will ever forget that mesmerising run last season at Goodison Park, when Murphy was left to tap it over the line.

For me, it is not even up for discussion, in the very unlikely (near impossible) situation of Alexander Isak getting sold this summer, he would set a new Premier League transfer record for sure.
