Another update on the Alexander Isak saga, with now Eddie Howe and the rest of the Newcastle United squad back on Tyneside.
Alexander Isak returned from Spain at the weekend after having worked with a personal trainer at his old club Real Sociedad’s training ground in San Sebastian.
Whilst Eddie Howe and the players who had been on the Far East tour, flew back into Newcastle on Monday but were then given Tuesday off, having been away for a couple of weeks.
Sky Sports say that whilst the Newcastle United squad were back working at the NUFC training ground this morning, Alexander Isak wasn’t amongst them.
The broadcaster adding that this morning’s training was then followed by a family gathering organised by Eddie Howe, the players with partners/children invited for lunch and activities.
Sky Sports stating though that Alexander Isak had been told to report on his own this afternoon to the Newcastle United training ground, only AFTER the rest of the players and their families have left.
Alexander Isak to then train/receive treatment.
Keith Downie of Sky Sports adding; “Eddie Howe and the club do a lot to foster a strong family environment all year round, and these gatherings are regular. However, feeling this comes at a good time for the players and staff after a difficult summer off the pitch.”
Difficult to see, especially with how this has been reported by Sky Sports, that this update suggests there has been any positive moves this week in terms of bringing Alexander Isak back into the fold.
Also, difficult not to link this with what the Newcastle United Head Coach said on Sunday…
After Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham, Eddie Howe asked if Alexander Isak would be training with the rest of the Newcastle United squad this coming week, ahead of the last two friendlies of pre-season on Friday and Saturday at St James’ Park?
“You have to earn the right to train with us.
“We are Newcastle United.
“The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team, to be part of a squad.
“You have to act in the right way.
“So that is also at play here.
“We will make sure that any player does that, to earn the right to train with the rest of the group.
“No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal.
“Of course I’d like him to be at training but whether he will, I don’t know at this moment in time.
