Nottingham Forest had reportedly agreed a fee of around £9m with Betis for Moreno, who will now spend the 2022-23 campaign working under Manuel Pellegrini.

The full-back says that the decision is a joint one with Real Betis and that he prefers to stay because of “the affection of the fans”, “the project” and “the trust” that has been “shown to him from all levels of the club”.

By staying at the Benito Villamrín, he has rejected a significant salary increase with Nottingham Forest, the newly-promoted club that were willing to triple the Catalan player’s wages, according to Seville outlet Estadio Deportivo.
