EURO 2024 hosts Germany were dealt a blow on Wednesday with the news that Aleksandar Pavlović has been ruled out of the tournament.
The 20-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder had been expected to miss Friday’s opening match with Scotland due to tonsillitis, but an infection caused by the illness has now forced him to withdraw from Die Mannschaft’s squad.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann has instead called up Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can to replace Pavlović.
The 30-year-old has been capped 43 times at senior level, and last featured in a 2-1 friendly victory over France in September 2023.
