Inter defender Aleksandar Kolarov looks set to retire from football, and will terminate his contract with the Nerazzurri by Monday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 36-year-old will officially leave Inter by mutual consent before the end of the month.

Kolarov has barely featured for Inter this season, with recurring injury issues restricting his fitness and availability, and he has not found any consistent form or been in favour in the defensive line.

The Serb will end his time with Inter by Monday, while he is also expected to hang up his boots altogether rather than searching for a new club to join over the rest of the season.

With Kolarov gone, Federico Dimarco will take up the role of the primary backup to Alessandro Bastoni on the left side of the back three, while new signing Robin Gosens will compete with Ivan Perisic at left wing-back.
