Alejandro Mayorga is intent on nailing down a regular starting place and winning some silverware now that he’s back at Chivas.
The 23-year-old left-back spent the last couple of years on loan at Necaxa and Pumas, helping the latter to reach the Liguilla final last term.
However, the Durango native has since returned to Guadalajara and finally established himself in the Flock’s first-team squad.
In addition to that, he has recently risen above veteran Miguel Ángel Ponce in manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich’s pecking order.
“My goals are to continue as a starter and consolidate here, also to seek a championship,” Mayorga told the official Chivas website.
In terms of his time away from Los Rojiblancos, Mayorga believes it was a necessary step as learning on the job at a big club can be too much for emerging talents.
“I think that in Chivas the margin of error is very small due to the large team that it is. It is not advisable many times to expose such young players in the first instance.
“You have to work on them and carry out a process. I think it is not bad to go to another team to show your level, it is a way to grow.”
While Mayorga has enjoyed a bright start to the Guard1anes 2021 season, his team have not.
Chivas will be hoping to shake off their lacklustre form when then travel to Pachuca on Monday.
