The Baggies finally recorded their first league victory of the season against the Blades to lift them out of the bottom three. However, with six points from ten games, it remains Albion’s worst start to a Premier League season.
Only twice in their history have the Baggies had less than the equivalent of six points from their opening ten games. 1985/86 has been much talked about when Albion had just one draw to their name at this stage, while back in 1895/96, Clement Keys was in charge as they started with one win and two draws from their opening ten games. While in the eighties, Albion were relegated, back in 1896 they survived, although only because there was no Division Two!
