Mentioning Alberto Coyote implies talking about one of the most beloved players in the history of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, one who helped consolidate the famous 'Super Chivas' as an authentic epochal team in our football.
From his position as a holding midfielder, Coyote was a very important pillar during the Rebaño Sagrado's tenth title, which to this day remains in the memory of the Rojiblanca Nation as one of the most special, as it was the culmination of a spectacular tournament, which included a crushing defeat of Toros Neza in the Grand Final.
Today, on his 58th anniversary, we commemorate the dedication he has had in all his stages linked to the most popular and beloved team in our country.
Engine of the midfield
In the 1993-94 season, he left the Panzas Verdes del León to play for Chivas. With the number 6 on his back, he formed, together with Ramón Ramírez, one of the most effective and best-remembered duos for the Chivahermanos. He played a total of 13 seasons with Guadalajara, with whom he accumulated 288 games, 10 goals and 31 assists, which earned him National Team status.
Captain and Champion
Guadalajara's tenth star was achieved under his leadership, as he wore the captain's armband in the Summer of 1997, when the Rebaño Sagrado defeated Toros Neza in an epic Final with a 7-1 aggregate victory at the Jalisco Stadium, which led to the total jubilation of the Chivahermanos of the Pearl of the West, who overflowed their passion through the streets of the city that afternoon.
Coach and trainer
After hanging up his boots as a player in 2002, Coyote returned in 2011 under the guidance of José Luis Real to the club where he left his greatest footballing mark to join the Cantera Rojiblanca and has been linked to the institution ever since. Just as he did as a player, his contribution to Chivas' youth teams has been invaluable: 'Beto' is a multi-champion with the Under-17 and Under-20 categories, and on a couple of occasions he took the reins of the First Team on an interim basis, in 2012 and 2019.
Happy Birthday, Alberto Coyote!!!!
