Albania manager Sylvinho spoke highly of Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani after a crucial UEFA Nations League win.
During his recent press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, Sylvinho hailed the 22-year-old’s notable improvement under his stewardship.
Kristjan Asllani scored a second-half winner to inspire Albania to a narrow 1-0 victory against Georgia on Monday.
Three precious points at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi helped the Red and Blacks return into contention for League A promotion.
After four rounds, the Albanians sit third in Group B1, albeit only one point adrift of the table-topping Czech Republic.
On that basis, Asllani couldn’t have picked a better moment to score his first international goal since June 2023.
But, while his international stock continues to grow, first-team opportunities at Inter remain at a premium.
Indeed, Simone Inzaghi has given Asllani only 142 minutes of Serie A action this season.
Had it not been for Hakan Calhanoglu’s fatigue issues, he probably wouldn’t have started against Monza in mid-September.
Yet, his four remaining league outings have come off the bench.
On top of that, he only made a late cameo appearance against Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League.
Despite his limited game time at Inter, Asllani is essential to Sylvinho’s set-up.
“Asllani? He scored, he did very well like many of my players. We are proud of them,” Sylvinho said.
“In some situations in the defensive phase, Asllani was too close to our left-back, Mitaj.
“We had some problems blocking the opponents.
“He is a good player, he improved a lot with us and did very well.”
Meanwhile, Asllani returned from the international break with a minor fitness problem.
However, he should make the matchday squad this weekend as Inter head to the capital to meet Roma.
