Midfielder Kristjan Asllani will miss out on Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Venezia tomorrow evening due to injury.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that with Hakan Calhanoglu back fit, the Albanian will be able to sit out the match.
Asllani has been in the Inter squad for the past few matches.
However, the 22-year-old has not played a single minute in any of them.
The reason for this has been a knock that Asllani has been carrying. The former Empoli midfielder sustained a blow to the knee in training right at the end of the international break.
The issue has not quite been serious enough to see Asllani outright miss out on the squad for any of Inter’s last few matches.
However, the main reason that the Albanian has been in the squad has been because Hakan Calhanoglu has not been available.
Calhanoglu has missed Inter’s last three matches. He also came off in their Serie A match away to Roma after barely ten minutes.
Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has wanted Asllani available on the bench.
The 22-year-old has essentially had to grit his teeth to be available even though his condition has been far from ideal.
But now, Calhanoglu is back. The Turkish international won’t likely start against Venezia, but he’ll at least be in the squad.
Therefore, there is less pressure for Asllani to be available as an option on the bench.
As such, Sky reports, Inzaghi is not going to call up the Albanian tomorrow.
Rather, Asllani will continue to train individually. He’ll aim to be close to 100% for upcoming matches against Arsenal and Napoli.
Meanwhile, Sky reports, wingback Carlos Augusto continued to train individually along with Asllani today.
Every other Inter player trained normally with the squad. This included Calhanoglu, Francesco Acerbi, and Tajon Buchanan.
