Manchester United's long-term strength became their weakness once more as they threw away a point against Brighton on Saturday lunchtime.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United were the kings of late goals. Think the Premier League version of Bayer Leverkusen, with stoppage time being commonly referred to as 'Fergie time' thanks to their ability to snatch results late on.
But as João Pedro nodded home a 95th minute winner at the AMEX Stadium to hand Brighton all three points, an alarming stat surfaced.
The late goal was the sixth game Manchester United have lost in stoppage time under Erik ten Hag, more than any other side. By contrast, they lost just two in the first 30 years of Premier League football.
Just two games into the new season, Ten Hag continues to set unwanted records at Old Trafford.
