Alan Varela earns first Argentina call-up

Alan Varela has been included in Lionel Scaloni's call-up for the upcoming commitments of the Argentina national team. This is the first time that the FC Porto midfielder has been selected for the white and sky blue team, where he will cross paths with Otamendi, a Benfica player also called up.

Last week, both were already on the shortlist of the coach, which had 31 names. This Thursday, the final list was released, with 29 players. Argentina will face Venezuela and Ecuador on the early mornings of September 5 and 10, respectively, in mainland Portugal time.
