Alan Shearer defends Mauricio Pochettino insisting he’s had to “take a lot of s*** this season” | OneFootball

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has leapt to the defence of Mauricio Pochettino insisting he’s done a “really good job.”

It’s been a difficult first season for the Argentine and he has had to deal with a lot of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.

The 52-year-old has become increasingly outspoken in the media when asked about his future, and even hinted last week he could walk away from Stamford Bridge if he wasn’t happy.

Shearer defends Pochettino

Despite all the criticism that’s come his way and an unprecedented injury crisis which has seen the club without multiple key players for large parts of the season, the Blues are having somewhat of a late season resurgence.

Chelsea made it three wins on the bounce and four unbeaten with a thrilling comeback victory against Nottingham Forest which saw them move level on points with Newcastle in sixth.

A decision will be taken on Pochettino’s future at the end of the season where he will sit down and have a discussion with the club’s ownership over the best course of action to take.

Shearer believes Pochettino has had to deal with a lot this season.

However Shearer has defended the Argentine and insisted he’s done a really good job despite having to deal with “a lot of s***.”

“He’s had to take a lot of s*** this season, a lot of it through no fault of his own because we know how it works at Chelsea,” Shearer told The Rest is Football.

“I think that was him having a little dig back [at the rumours of his dismissal].

“I think he’s done a really good job, they could get sixth place.

“If he were to get that it would be a bloody good season for them.”

Considering he inherited a team which finished 12th last season and has undergone major transformation a top six finish plus a cup final and semi final would represent a good season and a huge step in the right direction for the club.

Things appear to be going in the right direction and to rip all that up and start again would be a huge mistake on the owner’s behalf.
