While Chivas still have hope of landing the Clausura title, the club’s hierarchy are already looking towards improving the squad ahead of the 2022 Apertura.
The Flock face Atlas in a Clásico Tapatio on Sunday, trailing 2-1 after a home defeat in the first leg in midweek.
Should they exit at the quarter-final stage to their local rivals, fingers will no doubt be pointed at the club’s hierarchy after a largely disappointing campaign.
To deflect some of the possible criticism, Chivas have already made moves to land Pumas right-back Alan Mozo.
The 25-year-old is under contract until next summer, but ESPN reports that there have been discussions about a switch from the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
Los Rojiblancos are also reportedly interested in acquiring left-back Brian García from Necaxa, although that has yet to manifest itself in any serious approach.
Should Chivas fail to overturn their deficit at the Estadio Jalisco on Sunday, we expect to see the transfer speculation around the club intensify further.
