After learning that América star defender Bruno Valdez suffered a terrible ACL tear, which will keep him out for six-to-eight months, the club’s directors have gone to work.
There are several options to replace the Paraguayan, some of which are quite interesting.
Since Valdez will miss the rest of the season, Liga MX regulations allow for América to remove him from the roster, meaning that the Águilas are free to sign a foreign player until 5 October.
According to TUDN, their number one option is Independiente centre-back Alan Franco, who has previously been linked to América.
Franco is valued at roughly $6m, so it’s quite possible that the two sides can come to an agreement to ultimately erase Independiente’s debt to the Mexican giants.
Of course, they could promote Ramón Juárez from the U-20 squad or repatriate Héctor Moreno from Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa.
