According to Sports Zone, Al-Shabab have reached an agreement with Watford to sign defender Wesley Hoedt (30) before the end of the transfer window. The former Southampton defender is set to undergo a medical with the Saudi Pro League ahead of his completing his move.
The news of Hoedt’s departure may come as a blow to fans of the Hornets. Despite it being an underwhelming season for Watford as they finished 15th, the Dutch defender was a crucial player for the EFL Championship side and eventually was named as their player of the season.
With his medical with the Saudi club booked, Watford will now be forced to find a replacement for Hoedt. The Hornets have lost several key players this season. Ismaël Koné has also left Vicarage Road during the summer transfer window after he completed a €12m move to Marseille. The Canadian international impressed during preseason and will play his football at the Stade Vélodrome this season.
