Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr are reportedly hoping to sign Mesut Özil this summer – and have offered some outrageous terms to persuade him.
Özil has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal, failing to register a single minute post-lockdown despite starting the previous ten matches.
According to Fanatik, Al Nassr are promising the 31-year-old an annual salary of €17m per year, essentially matching his current wages in North London.
But that’s not the best part. Senior club officials are so desperate to sign Özil that they have offered him royalty status in the country.
“We want to make him the new Prince of Saudi Arabia,” a source close to Al Nassr revealed.
“We will not spare any sacrifices for this.”
However, the Gunners playmaker has already reiterated his desire to stay for the remainder of his contract.
“Things have been difficult but I love Arsenal,” he told the Athletic last month. “I’ll decide when I go, not other people.”
“Situations like these only make me stronger. I showed in the past that I can come back into the team and I will show it again.”
Özil has made 254 appearances for Arsenal since joining in 2013, scoring 44 goals and assisting 77.
