According to Foot Mercato journalists Santi Aouna and Hanif Ben Berkane, Saudi club Al-Nassr are considering a move for Atletico Madrid and France midfielder Antoine Griezmann (32). Saudi officials have already reportedly met Griezmann’s entourage in London to gauge the player’s interest, with the main challenge to persuade the Frenchman over a move.
It is reported that Griezmann’s release clause is relatively low at €25m, a figure which doesn’t deter interest from the Gulf state.
The 2018 World Cup winner has scored 15 goals and registered 17 assists in 38 La Liga matches this season, and reportedly feels content in Madrid. Atletico, however, could benefit from removing a high earner from their wage list amidst some financial trouble.
Saudi sides have been aggressively pursuing high-profile sigings this transfer window. Following the high-profile acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo in January, the Saudi Pro League has made a strong statement by securing the services of Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté. Ruben Neves has also joined Al Hilal to the astonishment of many, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy could also be set to pack their bags for Saudi Arabia.
